  We celebrated my wife's birthday at Velvet Glove and it was fantastic. The staff was very friendly; hostess, server, manager and all. Our dinner started off with the heirloom tomato salad and jumbo scallops at the recommendation of our server. Both great choices. The main courses consisted of the smoked duck breast and double boar chop. The smoked duck breast was delicious but also included duck stuffed tortellinis, which were just as good or even better than the breast. The double boar chop was cooked just the way I had asked, and was tender and full of flavor. The boar juices were slightly salty though. Unfortunately, neither my wife nor I saved room for dessert. Portion sizes for the appetizers and the main course are very reasonable. This was our first visit to Velvet Glove, and based on this experience, won't be out last.

  I don't think my room or the hotel justify the cost premium that pay at a Fairmont. Gym was good and near the top of the hotel so good vistas when sweating to the oldies. Has valet parking which I used but they left my rental parked in front for the duration of my stay... I find the lounge had zero ambience but I was only there once so that is not necessarily a fair assessment.

  I go here on occasion to use their gym and pool facilities for $10. The place is often empty. You can spend as much time as you want lounging around the salt water pool, hot tub, sauna, and steam room. There are several lounge chairs where you can relax with a magazine. The view is nice too.

  Grabbed some food before the Jets game with friends. Had an amazing burger. Made me an amazing poutine as well. Wasn't even on the menu! Chef gets more than 5 stars. Drinks were great too. Service was flawless. Can't say enough about this place. Amazing customer service.
